ABSTRACT

While the world keeps changing and evolving at an ever greater pace, people, communities and institutions need to pursue ways to adapt and to remain resilient in the face of more complexity, more multipolarity, and ever more connectivity. For global leaders, the shift from a culture of management by objectives to value-based leadership is a given, albeit not always easy and straightforward in its implementations. As global leaders take on many different roles, the question remains whether individuals and organizations are fit for change. As global leaders need to influence, to motivate and to continuously support, there is the need to find a balance between different speeds of change. Agile leadership, while not necessarily new, experiences a renewed interest and fields of application. Based on a recent leadership mentoring role to a heavy industry machines corporate giant, this talk will address the tenets of agile leadership, exploring its 4 pillars that are cross-cultural competence, value-based leadership, emotional intelligence and communication, in order strive toward a more innovative, creative, diverse and inclusive corporate entity. The talk will feature conceptual approaches, application to a case and future areas of investigation.
