ABSTRACT
Cultural intelligence is believed to be an important quality for individuals today. In this research seminar I will present my previous publications on the antecedents of cultural intelligence, and its relationship with intercultural competence. Both have implications on the development of cultural intelligence. More specifically, I will present the influence of international experience, experiential learning style, and personality on cultural intelligence based on the empirical articles I published at Academy of Management Learning & Education and Personality and Individual Differences journals.
I will also present my study examined how the four facets of cultural intelligence relate to the developmental stages of intercultural competence using the Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS, Bennett, 1986). The implications of findings from these studies for the assessment, selection and development of international talents will be discussed.
