Back to the 2024 IÉSEG Summer University: a day dedicated to time
On Friday, June 28th, IÉSEG welcomed over 180 participants to its 8th Summer University on the Paris-La Défense campus. With the theme “Taking Time to Stay Ahead,” this day dedicated to professionals from all sectors allowed participants to delve into temporality, explore its multiple aspects, and its implications for the socio-economic world.
Opening of the day: an engaging plenary conference
The day began with an inspiring conference entitled “Losing Time to Save Time!” led by Stéphane YAÏCH. As an expert in well-being and efficiency in the workplace, Stéphane shared his personal and professional experiences with stress management and time perception. He provided valuable insights on slowing down and effectively managing time in a constantly evolving world.
Roundtable sessions: rich and diverse exchanges
The morning went on with a series of five roundtable discussions led by IÉSEG faculty members. Each session deepened understanding on various issues related to the theme of time:
-The end of working hours, long live lasting engagement?
Moderated by Bernard COULATY, this roundtable explored the challenges of long-term engagement in a hyperconnected professional world, focusing on the search for meaning and balance between personal and professional life.
–Culture and time: impact on individuals and businesses
Under the supervision of Grant DOUGLAS, this session addressed cultural differences in time perception and their implications for interactions and performance within companies.
–Finance facing climate challenges and biodiversity collapse
Hugues CHENET led this discussion on the responsibilities and necessary transformations in the financial sector to address current environmental challenges
–Evolution of diversity over time: from disability to neurodiversity
Jérémie BERTRAND led a discussion highlighting the challenges and opportunities related to inclusion of diverse forms of diversity in business.
-From Paper to AI – Evolution of Data Marketing in Business
Led by Thomas LECLERCQ, this session explored the evolution of marketing data management from the paper era to artificial intelligence, and its ethical and security implications.
Networking lunch and practical workshops: time for exchange and learning
The Summer University went on with a networking lunch, before giving participants the opportunity to get together for a series of workshops led by Bohdan PAWLYSZYN, Chief Engagement and Inclusion Manager at IÉSEG, and facilitated by the school’s Career team and its speakers. The themes proposed covered different aspects of temporality: the art of roadmapping; timed ideation; decisive time; slow working.
A new perspective on time
The day concluded with a captivating presentation by Régis ROSSI, a speaker and illusionist, on the theme “Losing Time or Losing the Sense of Time. What if we changed our perspective?” His interactive performance offered an original and refreshing outlook on time management.
Closing Afterwork
The Summer University ended on a high note with a friendly afterwork session, allowing professionals to reflect on the highlights of the day and network effectively.
The 8th edition of the IÉSEG Summer University provided a space for reflection, exchange, and sharing, enabling all participants to reconsider their approach to time and discover enriching perspectives for the future of their personal, organizational, and team development.
