“Changemakers Odyssey” – an innovative approach to welcoming IÉSEG students around the United Nations’ SDGs
On the Lille and Paris – La Défense campuses IÉSEG is welcoming no fewer than 1,700 new students this year, whether in its Grande École Program or Bachelor’s program. As is the case every year, one of the main challenges for these young students is to get to know the other students in the class, discover the campuses and their environment, and immerse themselves in the School’s teaching methods and what they will be learning.
This year, IÉSEG has broken new ground by introducing a major CSR challenge, the “Changemakers Odyssey”, as part of their first week at the School, in partnership with the MakeSense association. Divided into small groups, the students, who will be together in the same class throughout the year, had to take up challenges as varied as collecting toiletry kits for a partner association (La Cloche), becoming aware of the environmental footprint in their food choices, walking 10 km over the course of the day, taking action against sexist and sexual violence in festive environments, writing a post on social networks highlighting an inspiring woman, carrying out their energy diagnosis to identify energy savings…
These are just some of the challenges that will help them better understand the 17 United Nations SDGs and, above all, immerse themselves in IÉSEG’s Vision: “To train and grow changemakers for a better society”.
For Maria Castillo, Director of Social and Environmental Impact at IÉSEG, “ the primary goal of the Changemakers Odyssey is to make all our students aware, in a fun way, of CSR issues, which are an integral part of the School’s global strategy and its DNA. So it’s a strong message that we give by organizing these challenges around these topics, right from their first days at the School. ”
