Employee engagement in France: Results of a new survey from the IÉSEG Executive MBA
The IÉSEG-CEGOS Executive MBA, in collaboration with the institut CSA, recently carried out a survey in France on a key issue for companies everywhere: employee engagement.
Commitment, performance, adherence to company rules, helping colleagues… to what extent do workers in France feel engaged in their work? The EMBA survey*, carried out on representative sample of the French working population, looked to analyse the foundations of employee engagement.
The study underlines that people’s well-being and fulfillment have a strong impact on employee engagement. These are just a very small selection of the findings from the survey:
- Employee Engagement: Overall 84% of respondents met the ‘engagement’ benchmarks outlined in the survey (for example, more than 90% supported their colleagues, and more than 70% stayed longer than required at work)
- Overall well-being and engagement: Overall 75% of respondents met with the well-being and fulfillment benchmarks in the survey (for example, they are optimistic about their future, have clear objectives in their lives, good social relations, etc). The survey shows that those with higher levels of general well-being and fulfillment were more liked to be committed at work. (for example they are significantly more likely to carry out their daily tasks and to spontaneously help others at work).
- The feeling of being fairly treated and the link to well-being: 68% of those surveyed felt they were treated ‘fairly’ at work. Those who felt they were treated fairly had significantly higher levels of “wellbeing’ and fulfillment than those who didn’t believe they were treated fairly.
IÉSEG hopes the results of the study will help managers to define concrete courses of action to take care of their employees and help the long-term performance of their business.

*A total of 1005 people responded to the survey (on well-being and engagement), of which 608 were in employment.
