Éric Dor’s user guide to leave the Eurozone
IÉSEG’s Director of Research Eric Dor is currently being quoted a great deal in the international media. As an expert in macroeconomics, he has been commenting on various aspects of the current financial crisis in Europe. His recent working paper, provocatively titled “Leaving the Eurozone: a User’s Guide”, has been of particular interest. In it he provides a detailed description of the potential consequences which would occur if a member country were to leave the European Monetary Union. This scenario is currently being discussed in the case of Greece, for example, but often without consideration for what it would imply in practice. Dor’s description of the possible series of events if a country ever left the Eurozone helps us to understand the complexity and uncertainty of such an occurrence.
