MSc in « Investment Banking & Capital markets » : Focus on the new “Digital Banking & FinTech” course
The Master of Science (MSc) in « Investment Banking & Capital Markets », launched in 2015, is one of the 9 MSc programs proposed by IÉSEG. It enables participants to explore in depth how capital markets work and provides them with the different skills required to work in the Banking sector. For the 2016-2017 academic year, the School has introduced a new course on digital banking & FinTech (Financial Technology) to the program.
Renaud Beaupain, Academic Director of this MSc, explains “Banks, as we know them today, are undergoing profound change. The bank of the future will provide new opportunities for stakeholders and these changes must be addressed by different actors in the sector. Our new course on digital banking and FinTech has been designed within this context to educate our students about the challenges and opportunities for creating value.”
Participants will study the different online marketing techniques that can be used to recruit or retain customers (SEO, SEA, e-mailing etc), aswell as the different online channels and online customer experience. They will also analyze how traditional and online banks use these levers and channels for example with the use of international case studies. The latest trends, such as big data, connected objects or artificial intelligence will also be discussed and highlighted.
Taught by Yvon Moysan, lecturer in digital marketing and digital banking expert, the course will also look at the FinTech ecosystem through various initiatives such as blockchain, crypto currencies, crowdfunding, and “robo advisors.”
The last part of the course will be dedicated to group work: participants will work either on the launch of a FinTech, or a digital banking plan (for a traditional or online bank). They will also carry out an international benchmark on best practices in terms of digital customer experience. The best examples will be presented at the next In Banque event, one of the major digital banking conferences in France (and for which IÉSEG is a partner).
In a fast-moving global financial environment, this MSc program further explores the most recent developments in capital markets regulation and compliance. Students graduate with a set of quantitative tools and with a solid knowledge of the regulations and ethics in investment banking and capital markets. The program is specifically targeted towards recent graduates in finance or business administration willing to develop their technical skills and knowledge in finance further.
