IÉSEG partners with the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) to enhance its risk management teaching
Risk management is one of the most dynamic fields in the financial services industry today and it has experienced considerable growth over the past several years, fueled by the complexity of financial products, increased regulation and recent notable failures.
To meet these challenges, the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) developed the FRM (Financial Risk Manager ®) program, the leading certification for risk managers recognized in every major market. This certification is required by nearly every major bank and firm in the world and is awarded only to professionals who demonstrate the knowledge and ability to anticipate, respond, and adapt to critical risk issues (73,000 certified FRMs in over 150 countries and territories around the globe).
Through its track in apprenticeship “Financial Institutions: Risk, Compliance and Data Analytics”, IÉSEG developed a concrete program which meets the expectations of the main financial institutions related to banking, insurance, wealth management… from a risk and compliance point of view. Already renown for the quality of its pedagogy and the expertise of its faculty, this program is a perfect match for all those wishing to boost their career in Compliance and Risk Management in any financial institutions in the world. Students train to pass both required certifications – the AMF and the Financial Risk Manager® from the GARP.
Thanks to this academic partnership, GARP will provide IÉSEG with guidance in aligning its risk management teaching with global industry needs and best practices, as well as a framework to integrate GARP’s Financial Risk Manager® certification directly into the School’s range of degrees offered. The School will also be allowed to nominate each year up to six students and one faculty member teaching in or administering this dedicated program for a Financial Risk Manager® Part 1 exam scholarship. By aligning an academic program with the FRM® curriculum, rigorous academic teaching is coupled with practitioner-driven insight and certification.
“GARP is pleased to welcome IÉSEG to the GARP Partnership for Risk Education. The ‘Financial Institutions: Risk, Compliance and Data Analytics’ track within the Grande École program is a rigorous course of study. It has been designed to provide students with both the theoretical and applied aspects of risk management. Students completing this program should find themselves well prepared for the rigors of the FRM® certification program and ready to embark on a career in the global risk management profession”, says William May, Global Head of Certifications and Educational Programs at GARP.
Jérémie Bertrand, academic director of the “Financial Institutions: Risk, Compliance and Data Analytics” track in apprenticeship, concludes: “Signing an academic partnership with GARP is a real opportunity for IÉSEG and our students. First, this proves the quality and the increasing reputation of our program. Second, it will now allow some of our students to apply free of charge for this prestigious certification, required in all financial institutions worldwide. In addition, it also paves the way for numerous collaborations with FRM-certified professionals in France, but also around the world. Finally, it allows our students to access the network of these certified professionals, which represents a real opportunity to enrich their network with a view to their future professional career”.
