IÉSEG students participate in international negotiation competition (TNC 2016)
A team of three students from the Master of Science in International Business Negotiation program were recently selected to take part in the Negotiation Challenge (TNC).
This international competition is designed to provide a competitive platform to help prepare students for the complex business negotiations that they will face after graduation. The 2016 edition, held in Vienna at the beginning of April, brought together teams of students from leading universities from all over the world to come together and compete against each other in realistic team negotiation situations.
MSc student Laura LENTIEZ explains: “My team and I travelled to the wonderful city of Vienna where we had the chance to negotiate and meet so many different people from all over the world.”
“Each round was challenging in its special way. The 1st round was conducted solely via Skype-chat and the 2nd round was an individual multi-party business negotiation. The 3rd round took place in a tram, which was by the way really surprising but very funny, and the 4th round dealt with Napoleon and military strategy. “
The team had to find the most suitable negotiation style and adapt its behavior to the different cultures and situations. This enabled them to put into practice what they have already learned in class, and areas for potential improvement.
Another team member Yun Jou CHANG notes “We are thankful for having this opportunity to participate in the TNC competition … and are grateful to have all the practical lectures and useful advice from (IÉSEG) professors.”
Congratulations to all of the team who finished the competition in 6th position!
