Student Club “La Tribune” : debates & conferences

la tribuneLa “Tribune IÉSEG”, an association which organizes conferences and debates, was created in June 2011 by three students who were seeking to further develop the visibility of the school.  Developed first at the Lille campus, and then in Paris, the association aims to organize conferences with well-known French political and economic personalities. With more than 25 members across the two campuses, the association is growing quickly in order to offer students further opportunities to exchange and debate.

Since its creation, the association has welcomed 12 invitees, including prominent politicians such as Éric Woerth, Denis Payre, or Jean-Christophe Lagarde, who have shared their expertise and experience with students. It has also welcomed other well-known people from other sectors including Didier Pourquery, former deputy director of Le Monde’s editorial staff, who was invited to the Paris campus in November. The association’s conferences gather up to 300 people, the large majority of whom are students and also young professionals.

In parallel to the conferences, the association also organizes student debates. The aim of such discussions, which generally average about forty participants, is to get students to debate topical issues. As with the conferences, the proposed topics are varied and can concern both political and economic issues.

Finally, the association will organise for the first time in 2015 a public-speaking contest.  Students from the school who wish to participate will be asked to debate on a given topic in front of a jury.

The “Tribune IÉSEG” is an important association for the School, and which intends to continue its development at the Lille and Paris campuses. Several future conferences are already planned, with the next event due to take place in Lille on January 22 featuring former minister Philippe Vasseur.
