Master in Management for Sustainability, 2024

Student

Gabonese

Following my Bachelor’s degree in Management specializing in banking and insurance, I decided to pursue my studies with a Master’s degree at IÉSEG for four main reasons. Firstly, the school’s reputation as one of the top business schools in France. It’s rewarding and helplufl to come out of a school like this to enter the job market. I was also able to see, through my research, that IÉSEG already had a certain reputation for cultural diversity, which really appealed to me. Secondly, I found the location of the Lille campus attractive, in the heart of this livable and friendly city, as well as being close to Paris. Finally, IÉSEG gave me the opportunity to reduce my tuition fees by offering me a scholarship based on my academic results. Through this gesture, I perceived an appreciative attitude towards my academic path, which I felt was positive.

I took the “Master in Management for Sustainability” to build on my Bachelor’s degree in banking and insurance. My focus was on sustainable finance, which, in the light of my African origins, holds great promise for the economic and social context of developing countries. I wanted to do a course that would be in tune with our modern times and respond to the world’s current challenges.

During my studies at IÉSEG, I particularly appreciated the cultural diversity: from now on, I see my difference as a strength! I also appreciated the friendliness and availability of the administrative and teaching staff. Thanks to this, the stress and anxiety associated with administrative formalities have vanished at IÉSEG! I also had the incredible opportunity to travel to London and take part in networking events. I also think that the richness of the courses on offer, which combine science, economics and business, gives you all the tools you need to find your place in the job market afterwards.

If I had to mention one particular memory of the school, it would be the Chinese course, which wasn’t just about learning a language, but appreciating a culture as a whole. I enjoyed the outings and the fun environment in which we learned. My special thanks go to Ms. Shen, who contributed greatly to my well-being in her own way.

Good organization is the key to keeping up the pace and keeping your head on your shoulders during the study program. The year will go by quickly, it will be challenging, but you mustn’t forget to live the whole experience. Getting to know the people and your environment is essential! Anything is possible if someone gives you the opportunity, and that “someone” can be you.
